DECEMBER 2015

A brawl that erupted in a Boat Quay bar on Christmas Eve left American national Mr John Denley Nelson, 30, severely injured and in a coma.

Mr Nelson, who was a stuntman at Universal Studios Singapore died on New Year's Day.

A man in his 20s has been arrested and charged with rioting. (See page 8.)


NOVEMBER 2015

A fight broke out between Uber car driver Goh Kok Ling, 59, and a Land Transport Authority (LTA) enforcement officer at the taxi stand at Bugis Junction.

In the viral video which was filmed by his passenger, Mr Goh is seen looming over the officer in what appears to be a confrontation.

It escalates and the officer throws the first punch.

The men scuffle and Mr Goh falls to the floor and is kicked by the officer.

A passer-by broke up the fight.

The 50-year-old officer was suspended from all duties and was later arrested by the police for affray.

MARCH 2015

A student who attacked a part-time cook with a bread knife in a dispute over the victim's girlfriend was jailed for 18 months.

He was also sentenced six strokes of the cane.

Muhammad Zuhairie Adely Zulkifli, 17, slashed Ahmad Nurthaqif Sahed, 18, in front of students and teachers at ITE College West, leaving him with several cuts.

He also broke Mr Nurthaqif's forearm and two fingers.

A video of the slashing incident went viral after other students filmed it and put it online.
