Singaporean teen charged with posing as Johor Sultan's grandchild
JOHOR BARU A Singaporean teenager has been charged in the juvenile magistrate's court in Johor Baru with posing as the grandchild of the Johor Sultan Ibrahim Ismail.
The 15-year-old boy had claimed to be part of the Johor royal family on his Instagram account.
He was spotted by his "followers" while shopping at Plaza Angsana in Tampoi at around 4.30pm on Aug 6 earlier this year.
The teenager, who attends school in Singapore, was charged under Section 419 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum of seven years in jail, a fine or both upon conviction.
He pleaded not guilty to the offence.
Magistrate Salina Omar set Jan 5, 2017, for mention of the case and RM4,000 (S$1,284) as bail. - THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
