This article is more than 12 months old

He allegedly locked himself and his girlfriend's two-year-old son in a flat at Block 462, Sembawang Drive on Tuesday evening.

Police arrested Muhammad Iskandah Suhaimi, 39, when they stormed the unit after a 17-hour stand-off.

He was hauled to court yesterday and was charged with possession of a weapon - a knuckle duster - in the flat at around 1pm on Wednesday.

Iskandah is remanded for a psychiatric evaluation at the Institute of Mental Health and will be back in court on Oct 14.

The New Paper understands he may be facing other charges and the cases are still under investigation.

If convicted of possessing the weapon, he can be jailed up to five years and ordered to receive at least six strokes of the cane.
