A train on the East-West Line was hit by a water leak on Monday evening, Shin Min Daily News reported.

A commuter who took the train from Clementi to Outram Park posted a video online, saying that water was pouring from the roof of the train.

Water was said to be leaking from the air-con vent throughout the journey. Many passengers were reportedly affected as the incident took place at around 6.20pm, during the evening rush hour.

Last July, a similar incident had happened on the North East Line.

When contacted, SMRT spokesman Patrick Nathan said: "On Monday evening, our Operations Control Centre was alerted to a leak in the air conditioning system in a train travelling towards Pasir Ris.

"Our staff boarded the train at Commonwealth Station to check the leak, and a cleaner was quickly sent to clear up the water.

"The train was subsequently withdrawn from service. We apologise to affected commuters."
