Giselle Shi Jia Wei, the 25-year-old woman convicted of attempted culpable homicide, was jailed four years on Friday.
The public gallery in the High Court was filled with at least 20 of Shi's friends and relatives.
Many wept as Justice Choo Han Teck sentenced her.
On Oct 2, Shi had pleaded guilty to trying to fatally wound her former girlfriend, Ms Ummul Qurratu 'Ain Abdul Rahman.
The pair had checked into the Golden Star Hotel in Geylang on July 22, 2012.
After having sex, Shi asked Miss Ummul if they could restart their relationship.
Miss Ummul said no.
Shi then stabbed her twice in the chest with a knife.
