Thai woman charged with murder
A 41-year-old Thai woman was charged with murder this morning.
Praphuttha Sukanya is accused of killing Mr Lee Yang Boo, 55, on Sunday (March 1), between 12.30am and 4.40am.
At about 4.40am on March 1, police were informed of Mr Lee's fall in the 16th storey flat at Block 8 North Bridge Road that the couple shared.
Mr Lee was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital where he died at about 6.45am.
Praphuttha was arrested the same day.
Seemed nervous
While waiting in the dock for her case to be heard, Praphuttha was seen looking around the court room anxiously.
As the charge was read to her, Praphuttha appeared nervous and the Thai interpreter had to repeatedly calm her down.
No plea was taken.
District Judge Janet Wang granted the prosecution's request for Praphuttha to be remanded at Changi Women's Prison for a psychiatric assessment.
She will next appear before the courts on March 24.
The maximum penalty for murder is death.
