There's a new Thai TV star - coup leader General Prayuth
Since the coup was announced by the Thai military almost two weeks ago, 14 TV networks have been shut down and international TV channels such as CNN and BBC continue to be blocked along with 300 web pages.
But Thais can expect a new TV programme on the small screen.
Coup leader General Prayuth Chan-ocha has decided to make weekly addresses on television and radio every Friday, said a spokesman for the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO).
It was reported that General Prayuth will be the key speaker on the programme, called Returning Happiness to the People. It is said that the programme will discuss the work done by his administration and clarify issues in the public interest.
And Thais won't be able to miss it. Why? All TV and radio stations must broadcast it.
The first installment of the show saw the leader explaining why the military had seized power.
Hmm, gripping drama.
