They won $100 each playing the TNP Bonus Challenge
Mr Muhammad Helmi Mohamad Yusoff took part in The New Paper Bingo game two years ago, but did not win.
So he skipped playing it for a year but this year took part again in the game, which is under a new name, The New Paper Bonus Challenge.
It paid off. Mr Helmi, 19, won $100 cash yesterday. Asked why he decided to give the game a go again, the final-year student at the Institute of Technical Education simply said: "It just felt right.
"My father had asked me to check the numbers this afternoon. That was when I noticed that there was a match. I got excited. This is my first time winning anything," added Mr Helmi, who started reading TNP when he was 13.
The teen said he enjoys the sports section as a pullout.
"When others are reading the news, I need not wait to read about football," he explained.
He has not decided what to do with the $100 prize.
Two other readers also walked away with $100 each yesterday.
Sales manager Hah Mee Heng, 37, collected the prize on behalf of her technician husband, who was at work.
"I received a call from him at 10 this morning. He sounded excited when he told me we won... and asked me to collect (the prize) after I had finished for the day," she said.
Like Mr Helmi, this is the couple's first time winning TNP's game. They have been readers of the paper for the last five years.
The third TNP reader to walk away with $100 yesterday was Mr Lau Chin Choon, 58, a delivery man.
"I feel like I've won at lottery," he said, adding that he intends to treat his family and colleagues with his prize money.
HOW TO PLAY
To play, simply buy a copy of TNP with a Bonus Challenge Card every Monday, from now till Dec 21.
Match the numbers on the card against six daily digits printed in TNP from Tuesday to Sunday.
Complete any vertical row of numbers and claim your prize on that row by answering a simple question on the spot. Answers to these questions can be found in TNP together with the day's numbers.
Other prizes up for grabs include an iPad Mini 3 and a Mini folding bike.
There were no winners for the $5,000 jackpot cash, iPad and bike prizes yesterday. As a result, the jackpot prize has snowballed to a whopping $6,000 today.
In case you missed Monday's edition with the entry card, you can still get copies of the paper at these selected locations.
