Three dead after boat carrying illegal immigrants sinks off Johor

Three people were found dead after a boat capsized in Sungai Tengah in Bandar Penawar, off Johor, on Tuesday (Oct 14) morning.
The boat was believed to be carrying illegal immigrants.
The three dead people - two women and a man - are all Indonesian nationals, according to Malaysian authorities.
The boat was believed to be travelling illegally to Batam, Indonesia, when the boat capsized at about 2.55 am local time, Xinhua reported quoting The Star.
It said 26 other passengers rescued from the boat have been detained to assist in investigations.
It is not clear how many people were in the boat.
