Two women dead after car slams into tree along M'sia expressway

A horrific accident on a Malaysia expressway on Friday (Feb 27) killed two people and seriously injured two others.

The group was in a car travelling on the North-South Expressway when their vehicle skidded and slammed into a tree.

Ms Soo Mei Yan, 24, and Ms Usa Soo, 50, died on the spot. The driver Soo Weng Soon, 27, and Ms Chooi Wei Mun, 23, were both seriously injured and are now in the intensive care unit of the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Kedah.

All four are from Perak and are believed to be related to each other. They were heading to Thailand for a holiday.

The accident happened at 7.30am, and the front of the car was wrecked.

Eyewitness Mohd Zammair Md Zain, 34, said the car suddenly swung to the left side of the expressway before hitting a tree by the roadside.

He saw tyres and several car parts being flung into the air after the impact.

Mr Mohd Zammair, who was travelling behind the car on his motorcycle, sais:

"A soldier who was also passing by and I immediately rushed to help."

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
