Update: Nicole Kidman's father was pronounced dead at Tan Tock Seng Hospital; Nicole's publicist issued a statement

Actress Nicole Kidman's father has died following an accident in Singapore on Friday.

Dr Antony Kidman, in his '80s, was visiting his daughter Antonia Kidman, who lives here with her husband and six children, when the incident occurred.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it received a call at about 8.10am.

When officers arrived at a restaurant in Tanglin Club, a few people were seen helping to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on Dr Kidman.

Suffered a fall

The SCDF paramedic used an automated external defibrillator on the man at the scene and continued performing CPR en route to hospital.

Dr Kidman was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police are investigating the unnatural death.

Australian media reported that Dr Kidman's death was a result of a fall, but there has been no official confirmation on the cause of death yet.

Shock

Dr Kidman was the director of the health psychology unit at Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital and a recipient of the Order of Australia medal, reported The Australian Woman's Weekly.

Antonia is a journalist and TV presenter, reported 9News.com.au.

Ms Wendy Day, Nicole's publicist and long-time friend of the Kidmans, told Daily Mail Australia: "The family is in shock and is grieving...I think that some time and privacy is needed to deal with this shock and tragedy."

The family has not released a statement.
