Where will Zouk move to?

The news of IndoChine WaterFront closing its doors comes on the heels of the possible relocation of nightspot Zouk.

The iconic nightclub's lease was supposed to end in 2012, leading many to speculate if it was going to relocate.

But Zouk, on Jiak Kim Street, had its lease extended till last June, and then till June 30 this year. Last month, authorities said they had offered Zouk another extension till Dec 31.

Earlier this year, the Urban Redevelopment Authority, Singapore Land Authority and Singapore Tourism Board said they were working with Zouk to identify alternative locations.

Frequent clubbers The New Paper spoke to feel that the words "Jiak Kim Street" have become synonymous with "Zouk" over the past years.

Financial consultant Jae Loh, 31, has been going to Zouk regularly for 13 years.

He said: "I've had such fond memories of Zouk at Jiak Kim Street in the past decade. I cannot imagine it relocating to another place. It wouldn't be the same if it does move."
