Woman arranged for men to rape her ex-colleague

This article is more than 12 months old

A woman who was mad at her ex-colleague came up with a bizarre plan to get revenge.

Joanne Berry, 30, visited sex chatrooms online saying she liked to role play and wanted to carry out a "rape scenario".

She then invited men to knock on her door, burst in and rape her, reported Mirror.

But in a sinister twist, Berry gave them the address of her ex-colleague.

Fantasy rape game

Prosecutor Andrew Espley said in court: "Joanne Berry arranged for men to go round to [the victim's] house and rape her."

"How did she do it? She went on various sex chat websites. She pretended she was [the victim], she gave [the victim's] address, she used her name, she gave the registration of her car which was going to be parked outside, pretended to be her."

"She then told the men to come round and engage in a fantasy rape game with her, basically to rape her."

Wicked and calculating

Mr Dean Hicks was one man who knocked on the victim's door. When he realised the mix-up, Mr Hicks advised the victim to call the cops.

Berry, an office temp worker, was arrested at her home in London on May 27, 2012, reported Mirror.

The judge said Berry's behaviour was wicked and calculating, reported BBC News.

"That (the victim) was not in fact raped or seriously sexually assaulted is entirely fortuitous," he said.

Berry was jailed for six years on Friday.
