Woman killed en route to her bachelorette party

This article is more than 12 months old

It was supposed to be a fun weekend bachelorette party for the bride-to-be.

But laughter turned to mourning when the car she was in collided with another vehicle.

Miss Collette Moreno and her best friend Ashley Theobald, both 26, were headed to Lake of the Ozarks in central Missouri.

The pair were in high spirits, and Miss Moreno (below, left) even snapped a photo in the car.

Eight minutes after posting the photo on Facebook, the pair met with an accident, KCTV reported.

The fumes from a truck they were stuck behind were bothering Miss Moreno, who had asthma.

So Miss Theobald tried to overtake the vehicle on the two-lane road, New York Daily News reported.

But there was a pick-up truck in the other lane, heading their way. As both parties were cresting a hill, they didn't see each other till it was too late.

Both vehicles swerved, and the pick-up truck hit the side of the car that Miss Moreno was seated at.

The pick-up driver and Miss Theobald were not seriously injured, but Miss Moreno was taken to hospital and later pronounced dead, New York Post reported.

Devastated

Miss Moreno's fiance, Mr Jesse Arcobasso, was devastated by the news. The couple were to be married next month.

Miss Moreno leaves behind a five-year-old son, Mail Online reported.
