Rajni-mania has hit Bangsar, on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, as Indian superstar Rajnikanth started filming his upcoming movie at Menara UOA yesterday.

The 64-year-old is in the Malaysian capital to shoot his 159th film, Kabali, reported The Star.

Fans thronged the area to catch a glimpse of the man fondly known as Superstar. They were seen cheering the actor and chanting slogans like "Thalaiva valge" (Hail to the chief).

Rajnikanth, dressed in dark slacks and a shirt, said "hello" and waved as he walked towards the filming spot at around 9.45am. Security was tight, but fans still managed to shake hands with the star.

Rajnikanth, who arrived on Oct 26, will be in the country until Nov 21.
