Nepal: A view from the ground
Nepal was rocked by 7.9 magnitude earthquake on Saturday, with hundreds feared dead in the city of Kathmandu.
The disaster caused massive devastation in the mountainous nation's capital, toppling office and historic buildings.
Reuters reported that 618 have been killed and an avalanche was triggered on Mount Everest, partially burying the Base Camp.
Nepal's tourism ministry said that at least eight people have died there.
Mr Masagos Zulkifli, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs posted on Facebook that Aluminaid Team Singapura Everest 2015 who were at Everest Base Camp had been contacted and are safe.
In 1934, an 8.3 magnitude earthquake killed over 8,500 people.
Amid the chaos, people in Nepal have been taking to social media to document the destruction and rescue efforts.
