Police arrest two in M'sia boy's kidnap case

Two suspects believed to be involved in the abduction of a five-year-old boy in Kajang on Friday (Oct 9) have been arrested.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said the two men were detained during raids in Sungai Chua at about 10.25pm Friday.

Closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras had filmed the men snatching the boy from his mother outside his kindergarten.

But the police chief did not comment if both suspects were the ones in the footage:

"We have two suspects. We are investigating this to the best we can, that is all I can say for now."

Sources said the two men tested positive for drugs, Star Online reported.

Footage showed two men approaching the victim and his mother, pretending to ask for directions.

One of the suspects then grabbed the boy and brought him into a black Proton Saga before driving away, The Rakyat Post reported.

The mother injured her leg while chasing after the abductors.

The boy was reunited with his family at about 5.35pm after he had gone missing for eight hours.

A taxi driver, who only wanted to be known as Nizam, drove up to the family’s home with the child in the back seat and called out to the parents in the house.

Mr Nizam said:

"I just found him walking on the road and I recognised him from the WhatsApp messages being circulated."
