This article is more than 12 months old

Barbra Streisand is the latest celebrity to jump on the anti-Donald Trump bandwagon.

With the US presidential election fever heating up, the 74-year-old US singer and actress has slammed the Republican presidential candidate in a new op-ed for US news organisation The Huffington Post.

She wrote that Trump is "a man who has bankrupted companies, reneged on bank loans, and cheated small business owners".

Streisand, who also mentioned his inconsistent policies and false statements, ended with: "He sounds like a child on the playground trying to escape punishment."

Her article follows US director Joss Whedon's launch of his Save The Day campaign on Wednesday.

He dropped the public service announcement video - featuring Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle and Mark Ruffalo from his Avengers cast - to encourage Americans to vote.

While the video does not mention Trump by name, Cheadle warns of "a racist, abusive coward who could permanently damage the fabric of our society".
