Three crushed by brick wall during storm
Three workers were among four people killed during a storm in Penang on Saturday (Aug 8).
The hour-long storm had brought disruption to the island.
Walls were toppled, tress uprooted and roofs were ripped off.
The victims, all from Myanmar, were in their 20s and 30s.
They were crushed to death when a 12m-high brick wall they were building at a factory warehouse collapsed on top of them.
The wall was believed to have collapsed due to strong winds around 4.30pm on Saturday.
The incident happened at an industrial park at Bukit Mertajam.
District police chief Asst Comm Rusli Mohd Noor said another person who was working with the three victims escaped with minor injuries.
The fourth death occurred on the island, when an uprooted tree fell on a house and killed Lim Chong Leong, 59, who lived there.
Mr Lim was believed to have been hit by debris from a wall brought down by the tree at about 4.30pm. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
