Three-year-old survives fall from fifth storey
A toddler got lucky this week after surviving a fall from a fifth-storey window without a scratch.
The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon when the three-year-old boy was found lying on a patch of grass beneath his family’s apartment in Gaoqian Town in the Pudong New Area, Shanghai, local television reported.
Neighbours heard the child crying and went to his aid, the report said.
He was taken to hospital for a checkup but found to be uninjured.
A witness said there was a lot of shrubbery and several cables between the fifth floor and the ground, which probably helped to break the child’s fall.
According to the news report, the toddler was being cared for by his grandmother while his parents, who hail from Yangzhou, east China’s Jiangsu Province, were at work.
The grandmother is believed to have left him alone at home when she went shopping.
