Boy locked up by mentally ill woman rescued
A 10-year-old boy in Kuantan was locked up by a mentally ill woman for six days, during which he was fed only bread and water.
Muhammad Amirul Hakim, who disappeared on Aug 19, was finally found on Thursday morning by policemen at a house in Lorong Mat Kilau, reported the New Straits Times.
He was said to be in a weak state.
Police said they found Amirul Hakim in the house at 2.20am following a tip-off.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Aziz Salleh said that when police went to the house, the 37-year-old woman refused to cooperate.
Police were forced to break down the door.
"Preliminary investigations suggest that Amirul Hakim was given only bread and water during his six days of being locked up," he said when contacted.
Mr Aziz said two other children, aged 11 and 15, were also found in the house together with Amirul Hakim.
He said the police are still investigating the incident.
