Instagram couple weds at first sight
Nervous suitors going on their first dates are often told that it's just a date – no one's asking them to marry the other party.
Not unless you're Ms Erica Harris and Mr Arte Vann, a US couple who met on Instagram and went on to get hitched after seeing each other in the flesh for the first time.
Ms Harris, a 36-year-old mother of three from Murrieta, California, met Mr Vann in the flesh for the first time on Friday (Jan 29) when he flew across the US on a one-way ticket from Earlton, New York.
On meeting her at California's Ontario International Airport, Mr Vann dropped down on one knee and proposed before exchanging their vows, leading them to coin their meeting as an "insta-engagement" and "insta-wedding".
Ms Harris first found Mr Vann on Instagram in March last year.
The lovebirds hit it off when Ms Hariss commented on a kinky poem Mr Vann had composed encompassing the seven deadly sins, saying: "You had me at lust."
A whirlwind online romance ensued before he quit his job in New York to fly over to the West coast.
The pair have since updated their Instagram profiles to indicate their wedded bliss.
Speaking to the Mail Online, Ms Harris said: "I didn’t realize how much I love this man.
"Now that we've spend three days together, I can't believe how much I love him.
"I believe this man deserves a lot of love, and I want to give him the love he gives me."
