Legend against mass incarceration
US singer John Legend is going all out with his #FreeAmerica initiative to end mass incarceration.
The 37-year-old on Monday announced a digital storytelling initiative, My Potential, aimed at changing the way people think about inmates.
It will feature stories of people affected by incarceration - inmates and their families.
Legend told People magazine: "As a teenager growing up in Ohio, I watched my mother deal with depression and drug abuse after her mother died. My mother's addiction didn't tear apart just her life but also mine and our family's."
Legend's mother went to jail but it didn't solve her problems.
He said: "She didn't need punishment. She needed help."
Tyra Banks to teach at Stanford
US supermodel Tyra Banks will be co-teaching a course at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business next May.
Project You: Building And Extending your Personal Brand focuses on how to use forms of old and new media to create and hone one's personal brand.
The 42-year-old, who obtained a degree from Harvard's School of Business in 2011, tweeted: "I'm beyond excited to teach. It's in my blood and I can't wait to meet my students."
'Taiwan showbiz is in Ice Age'
The Taiwanese entertainment industry is in the doldrums, said Taiwanese singer-actor Aaron Yan, member of Mandopop boy band Fahrenheit.
In a Facebook rant, the 30-year-old wrote: "It is not enough to describe Taiwanese showbiz as cold and wintry, we are totally in the Ice Age now."
And over the last five years, "instead of improving, the industry has worsened".
"If we don't change the way we think, and we actors continue to receive scripts at the very last minute, storylines keep changing on the fly according to viewership figures... we will continue to do a haphazard job."
Yan told United Daily News: "Recently, I was filming another drama in China and it hit me how rapidly they've improved over there. The scariest thing is, a lot of Taiwanese still think Taiwan's showbiz is great."
Woman says Uhm sexually assaulted her
Korean actor Uhm Tae Woong is being investigated for sexual assault.
Police said yesterday that a woman in her 30s filed a complaint against the 42-year-old last month, claiming that he sexually assaulted her at a massage parlour in the city of Seongnam, south of Seoul, in January.
"Details of the case are still unknown because the investigation is under way," a police officer familiar with the case told Korea Times.
"We will soon question the accuser."
As Uhm has been cultivating the image of a good dad on Korean reality show The Return Of Superman, which looks into the family lives of Korean celebrities, the case comes as a considerable surprise.
He and his ballerina wife Yoon Hye Jin have a three-year-old daughter.
