Mum puts daughter into heated oven
A mother in Texas has been arrested and charged with child abuse on suspicion of burning her two-year-old daughter in a heated oven, a sheriff's department said.
Tasha Hatcher, 35, was charged over the weekend with causing serious bodily injury to a child. The incident happened last Thursday (March 17), the Somervell County Sheriff's Office said in a statement, reported Reuters.
The child, who was not identified, was taken by air to a burn centre in Dallas, about 112km north-east of Glen Rose, where the incident took place.
The toddler is still in hospital, reported local newspaper Fox 4.
STABLE
She is sedated but is believed to be in a stable condition.
A spokesman for Child Protective Services confirmed the agency had taken custody of the child.
The child's uncle said he and other relatives are not allowed to have any contact with the child during the investigation.
According to Hatcher's Facebook page, the single mother works at an inn and a church in Glen Rose.
She is being held on a US$300,000 (S$408,000) bond.
