World's heaviest man dies at 48
A Mexican man, who was once the world's heaviest human at 597kg, died at the age of 48 on Monday.
Manuel Uribe died from an irregular heartbeat and an ailment linked to the loss of fluid in his legs according to preliminary reports, said an official at the University Hospital in Monterrey.
He was taken to the hospital on May 2 from his home with the help of a crane because he could not walk.
In 2007, Uribe was listed in the Guinness World Records. Soon after, he began a diet that saw him reduce his weight drastically to 394kg.
He married his longtime girlfriend Claudia Solis in 2008. The wedding ceremony was one of the few times he had left his home.
