A teacher threw a shoe at a girl who was playing with two classmates while he was conducting lessons on Thursday.

The eight-year-old pupil was injured and needed three stitches on her forehead, reported The Star.

The incident happened at 9.30am during a Moral Education class in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan. Mr Abdul Rahim Jaafar lost his temper as the girl was not paying attention during class.

After he threw the shoe, he continued to teach as the girl bled profusely, reported The Rakyat Post.

The pupil, M. Sharmini, says the teacher did not care about her injuries. She went to ask a teacher in the next-door classroom for help.

Not taken lightly

Deputy Education Minister P. Kamalanathan said the incident would be investigated by the State Education Department and referred to the disciplinary committee.

"The incident should never have happened and the Education Ministry is not taking the matter lightly," he told reporters on Friday.

He posted on his Facebook page that Mr Abdul Rahim has been transferred elsewhere.

A police report had been made about the incident.
