The Big Picture Contest Terms & Conditions

By entering the contest, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. The contest is open to Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents.
2. You are allowed to submit multiple entries.
3. In the interest of keeping the entries current, only photographs taken in 2011 and 2012 will be accepted for this competition.
4. Your photographs should be resized to 1,200 pixels on the long side.
5. Name your submissions as follows: firstname_lastname_001.jpg (e.g. john_doe_001.jpg or kokbeng_lim_001.jpg)
6. When submitting your photos, you are to provide your full name, identification number and contact number.
7. You agree that personal data, especially name, identification number, age and address, may be verified for the contest. All details and particulars submitted must be true, accurate and complete. Any incorrect or incomplete information found in the entry will result in the disqualification of the entry.
8. You hereby agree and consent to the public disclosure and use of your name, identification number, image, voice and video recording for publicity purposes and to participate in the publicity activities in relation to the contest, without payment or compensation, if your images win or are shortlisted. All winners may be required to attend a prize presentation ceremony.
9. Full-resolution, unedited photos will be required from winners and shortlisted entrants for verification.
10. The organisers reserve the right to disqualify any entries they deem unsuitable for the contest without notifying the photographer.
11. Winning entries from other photography competitions will not be considered for The Big Picture.
12. All photographs submitted must be your own work, and by entering the contest, you are confirming that you are the legal copyright owner of the images submitted.
13. Your entry shall not infringe on the copyrights, trade marks or any other intellectual property rights or contract rights of any third parties, or violate anyone's right of privacy.
14. Winners of the contest will retain the copyright in the images submitted, but the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA) will be granted worldwide, unrestricted and royalty-free use of the winning images until 31 Dec 2016. Singapore Press Holdings Ltd (SPHL) will be granted worldwide and royalty-free use of all winning and shortlisted images to publicise the contest.
15. You agree to indemnify, release, discharge and hold harmless SPHL and MICA for any claims, losses and damages suffered by SPHL and MICA or any of their partners or representatives as a result of your participation in the contest or any contest-related activities or your breach of any of the terms and conditions of the contest (including paragraph 9 and 10 above).
16. The organisers reserve the right at any time in their absolute discretion to cancel or modify the contest or substitute, withdraw or cancel any prize without prior notice and without having to disclose any reason therefore and without any payment or compensation whatsoever.
17. The organisers reserve the right not to award any prize, or to award one or more but not all of the prizes. The decision of the organizers shall be final, conclusive and binding on all participants and winners, and no correspondence will be entertained. Prizes not claimed will be forfeited at the sole and absolute discretion of the organisers.

The winner must also provide:

• A high resolution version of the image. For DSLR images, it must be in JPEG format and at least 3800 pixels on the long side with minimal compression (approximately 10 Megapixel resolution or filesizes of at least 3.5MB).
• Film Users - a higher-resolution scan of at least 2400x3600 pixels must be submitted to the organisers prior to award of prize(s).
• For Compact Camera/Smartphone, images must be in JPEG format and at least 3000 pixels on the long side with minimal compression (approximately 6 Megapixel resolution or file sizes of at least 2MB) during prize collection.
• Winners will be required to submit the original image to the organisers before prize can be collected, failing which the entry will be disqualified and the prize(s) forfeited.
• No watermarks, identifying marks or signature will be allowed for images entered into the competition.
• Photos must be accompanied by a caption.
