Apprentice Joseph See boots home good-priced brace
WORK AHEAD, who paid $70 for a win, was at his fifth win from 31 starts.
The US-bred five-year-old (above) by Master Command has now earned about $220,000 for Work Ahead Stable.
FAITHFULLY ($96), an Australian-bred four-year-old by Hidden Dragon, was recording his third success from 15 runs for stakes earnings close to $155,000 for Hwa Yi Stable.
The double also boosted apprentice Joseph See's tally to eight wins this term.
"Alwin had left instructions before he left. He basically said to try and keep both in a handy spot and do my best in getting a clear run, especially for Work Ahead who was drawn wide," said the Perth-trained rider.
"But I was caught wide throughout on Work Ahead as I could not get in. I have never ridden him before, and I could only hope he would have a kick left in the last 400m. I was still the widest around the bend, but once I let him go, he produced very good acceleration and we were able to get there right on time.
"It was the same with Faifhfully, except that I had to fight harder to get Joao on the line, and it was a thrill I was able to do so!"
