EURO ZONE serves notice of another win

EURO ZONE, who is down to run in Friday's all-Polytrack card, sharpened up for that assignment with a solid trial win at Kranji yesterday morning.
Kept on a snug hold and content to track the leaders right until they swung for home, he made a forward move when they were 200m from home.
Opening up in style he cleared away to win by one and a quarter lengths - clocking a fairly decent time of 61.65sec for the 1,000m journey.
A five-year-old New Zealand-bred, he has had 13 starts for two wins. Indeed, he has only been out of the board on five occasions. However, it's been a long wait between drinks for the son of Iffraaj. His last win was 14 months ago when he won a "Novice" over the 1,400m on the turf.
Euro Zone's last start was solid. Sent out as second pick in a Class 4 sprint, he had just four horses behind him when they turned for the run home.
Picking off the pack one at a time, he just failed to catch the $12 hot favourite Power Lion. That was on the turf in July and, while it was a commendable effort, it will be interesting to see how he goes on the Polytrack.
After all, 12 of his 13 runs at Kranji have been on the turf. Then again, he looked comfortable when winning his trial on the Poly, so who says he cannot bring that Poly form over to Friday?
TRIAL 1 (ORT)
1 Hades (C Brown)
2 Megabucks (M Zaki)
3 Star General (I Saifudin)
4 Storm Troops (R Zawari)
5 Semifreddo (K A'Isisuhairi)
6 Gold Kids (S John)
Margins And Time: 1¼, ½, ½, 1¾, 4 (1min 03.07sec).
Hades was a stylish all-the-way winner. He jumped best and in the early part of the trial he led from Megabucks, Storm Troops, Star General and Semifreddo.
He was one and a half lengths in front when they cleared the 600m. Star General moved up second, dropping Megabucks into third. Storm Troops was fourth.
Hades still had a length to spare when they were deep into the stretch and he went to the line on a good hold by Corey Brown. Megabucks came on for second.
TRIAL 2 (TEST)
1 Mr Connery (D Beasley)
2 King Savinsky (H Amin)
3 Joy And Happy (D Flores)
4 All Volksraad Go (Brown)
5 Free Happy (M Nunes)
6 Spirit Of Speed (L Allpress)
7 Brave Sister (BN Shahrul)
Margins And Time: 2, 1¼, nk, 4½, nk, dist (1:01.73).
Brave Sister was slow to move. Free Happy, King Savinsky and Mr Connery were smartly into stride. They were followed by Joy And Happy and All Volksraad Go.
Free Happy had a big lead when they cleared the 600m. But he took the home turn wide and blew his winning hopes.
Free And Happy still led into the straight but Joy And Happy, Mr Connery, King Savinsky were up there giving chase.
With 300m to travel, Mr Connery took charge of the pack and, given a few cracks of the whip he drew away to beat King Savinsky by two lengths. Joy And Happy was third.
TRIAL 3 (PRACTICE)
1 Euro Zone (Nunes)
2 Sing Roulette (YF Leong)
3 Piasau Garden (J See)
4 Beauty Gold (A Munro)
5 Preferred (KB Soo)
6 Fumiko (Allpress)
7 Go Lance (Saifudin)
8 Collect The Cash
Margins And Time: 1¼, 2¼, ½, 1¼, ns, 1, 1¾ (1:01.65).
A good start by all and after 150m they were six in a line. However, when they made the turn on the far side, they sorted themselves out and Sing Roulette forged ahead and was a clear leader when they headed to the 600m. Euro Zone held second, narrowly ahead of Go Lance, Fumiko, Piasau Garden and Preferred.
Into the stretch and they were spread across the track. Sing Roulette was still the leader with Euro Zone, Piasau Garden and Fumiko. With 200m to travel, Euro Zone charged to the front and beat off Sing Roulette by one and a quarter lengths. Piasau Garden stayed around for third.
