Fatkid Wonderer 'better with blinkers'
Jockey M Ewe was questioned regarding his riding of FATKID WONDERER over the concluding stages in Race 10.
He said that the gelding laid inwards in the early part of the straight and, after gaining the lead near the 200m mark, he rode the horse along with the whip.
He added that, as the horse appeared to resent the whip and then changed stride, which concerned him as Fatkid Wonderer had shown an inclination to lay inwards onto the running rail on previous occasions when he had ridden the gelding.
For this reason, he rode Fatkid Wonderer hands and heels over the concluding stages. He said that the gelding would be better suited with the addition of blinkers. His explanation was noted.
