League debutant has the Edge
LEAGUE debutant Edge Golf have had a cracking start to this year’s league, and one member they would like to single out is team captain Rick Chan.
Says team member Luvin Lim: “With his leadership and careful planning, he is leading our team at the top of the table.
Despite his busy working schedule as well as being the vice-captain of Changi Golf Club, he has put 110 per cent effort into this team, and as a strong 10-12 handicapper, Rick is a player who will amaze you on the golf course with his string of weird shorts, yet with the ability to find the greens in regulation.”
There are a number of reasons why Edge Golf signed up as a sponsor and participant, according to Mr Lim, one of which is that the BT Corporate League is an established competitive platform for amateurs in Singapore.
He says: “Edge Golf Technologies was formed with the dream and intention to create a fitting system that would help elevate the level of competitive golf in Singapore, but more importantly, to help improve the level of enjoyment for this sport among social golfers. Be it a golfer having issues with his driver, irons or even his putter, Edge Golf Fitting system is designed to match a golfer with their appropriate golf equipment to create an ease in their golf game.”
The team have also enjoyed the camaraderie among the golfers despite the competitive spirit, in addition to the selection of golf courses. “Singapore Press Holdings has organised the league extremely well, which has made golfers feel very relaxed and sociable,” says Mr Lim. He adds: “There is a wide spread of long and short courses, wide and narrow fairways to allow captains to plan their strategy carefully.”
Looking ahead to the next three rounds, captain Mr Chan says: “We are a group of competitive golfers. The strategy is simple – play your best! If it’s your day, it’s your day, or else, enjoy the experience which has already been wonderful.”
Team SunMoon surge into the lead after matching Bank of Singapore’s (OCBC) 113 stableford points at the third round of the BT Corporate Golf League at Jurong Country Club.
NOTE: Teams from Banyan Tree, Lian Beng, PwC, SAS Institute, Seah Construction, SPH Eagles, SPH Radio, SPH Reit play under a non-competing level.
