Interference affects result of race

An objection was lodged by Sam Chua (above), the trainer of dead-heater DYNASTY KNIGHT against POWERPAC, the other horse who finished first past the post, on grounds of interference over the final 75m.

After considering all of the evidence, the panel of stewards were of the opinion that near the 75m mark, Powerpac shifted inwards under pressure, bumping and crowding Dynasty Knight onto the hindquarters of Spicy Cat.

This resulted in Dynasty Knight becoming unbalanced and being buffeted for a number of strides.

The race meeting stewards were of the opinion that the interference had affected the result of the race and the objection was upheld.

The result was amended to read: 1st Dynasty Knight and 2nd Powerpac.

The day's Stipendiary Stewards' Report also stated that near the 75m mark, Dynasty Knight was struck over the head by the whip of apprentice Troy See, the rider of Spicy Cat, when racing tight to the outside of that gelding.
