Moreira kicks home treble to bring 4-day tally to 11

Jockey Joao Moreira yesterday ended his "warm-up" Kranji stint before heading back to Hong Kong with another three winners to bring his four-day tally to 11 winners from a total of 37 rides.

The 30-year-old Brazilian (above) scored on DYLAN in Race 4, newcomer A LA VICTORY in Race 6 and THESE STREETS in Race 11 from nine rides.

He brought the Laurie Laxon-trained Dylan ($11) from around midfield to win, led all the way on the Michael Freedman-trained A La Victory ($14) and came from midfield to win on the Cliff Brown-trained These Streets ($19).

He finished second on Weowna Flyer and third on Quechua, who was unlucky as he had no room in the straight and had to be angled out for an unimpeded run.

Last Friday, Moreira had a frustrating day at the office with only a win (Brad). He had four seconds, all of which had hit the front and looked set to win, and a third.

His best outing was yesterday week, when he topscored with four winners from 11 rides. He was second twice and third once.

Two days earlier, he scored three times and was second twice from nine rides.

Moreira, who left Singapore in the third-quarter of last year to take up a contract in Hong Kong, still managed to finish second to Australian Zac Purton in the jockeys' premiership although he did not ride a full season there.

The new Hong Kong season starts on Sept 14.
