Organisers upbeat about meeting sponsorship target

Organisers of the South-east Asia (SEA) Games here next year are confident of surpassing their target of $50 million in sponsorship deals, with more than half that amount already secured.

Kingsmen's $3m deal, announced yesterday, brings the figure up to $28m, in addition to earlier signings with SingTel, Deloitte Singapore and the NTUC FairPrice group.

While Toh Boon Yi, chief of the community and outreach committee, has not set a deadline for securing sponsorship deals, he is hoping to seal the major deals by the end of the year.

He is also hoping to get more small and medium enterprises on board.

He said: "We have most of our main sponsorships tied up and, hopefully, we will get our key sponsors sealed by the end of this year, namely for apparel and broadcast."

The organisers added that they will not rule out working with companies even after the Games, with Singapore set to host the Asean Para Games in December next year.
