SCOTTIE, who found one to beat in both his outings, looks ready to break through in Sunday's Combined Effort Handicap for Class 4 horses over 1,200m in Race 6, going by his two-round workout at Batu Gantong yesterday.
Taken out by a track rider, the four-year-old Australian-bred by Lonhro warmed up with a round of cantering exercise on the grass track, then did pace work in his second lap. He finished full of running into the back straight.
The going was heavy.
Scottie, who arrived unraced in February last year, went down by a head in his debut to Pretty Dwarf in an Open event over 1,200m in Kuala Lumpur in yielding going.
Last time out, he again made most of the running before going down second to Speed Flying in a Class 4 event over 1,100m in soft going in Penang early this month.
Trained by Bonny Ng for Al-Arabiya Stable, Scottie looks ready to go one better.
Fast work was done on the No. 2 grass track while slow work was on the sand track.
