Apprentice R Shafiq, when questioned, said that after suffering some interference at the start, the gelding travelled well. But, when placed under pressure in the homestraight, only finished the race off fairly. His explanation was noted.

ELISE: Began awkwardly; lost ground when buffeted; raced keenly; taken inwards; steadied.

D'BUFFALO MAN: Eased; raced keenly; bumped on two occasions; eased after being crowded.

RACE 3

GOLDEN MISSION: Jumped awkwardly inwards; made contact; checked; eased when crowded.

RACER KING: Made contact.

JIM: Slow to begin; lost ground when crowded.

KISS ME: Crowded; taken inwards; shifted inwards to obtain clear running approaching the 200m mark.

BENJI'S RULE: Crowded; laid inwards; rolled outwards; returned with a laceration on his near-hind leg and lame near-hind.

CORONET PEAK: Jumped awkwardly inwards.

TOOBIGTOOFAIL: Jockey TH Koh was fined $500 for dropping his whip near the 200m mark.

DRAGON NINETYNINE: Trainer Alwin Tan, when questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of Dragon Ninetynine, said that he felt that the tempo of the race would be slower than Dragon Ninetynine's previous starts, therefore, advised apprentice J See to settle where comfortable but to try to obtain a forward position.

He added that he also believed that the field was weaker than the gelding's previous start. He further added that, while he thought Dragon Ninetynine would run an improved race, the win did surprise him. His explanation was noted.

RACE 6

MEXBOROUGH BOY: Restless in the barrier; crowded.

GOOD NEWS: Crowded; bumped; raced tight; brushed.

INDIAN JADE: Jumped awkwardly inwards.

EXCEED EXPRESS: Jumped outwards.

ASTROSTAR: Raced wide.

RAISE NO DOUBT: Bumped; raced tight; brushed.

PETRENUI: Eased out near the 200m mark. The veterinary surgeon confirmed that Petrenui had locked his near-hind patella and exhibited signs of respiratory distress after the race.

RACE 7

RAPIDO STAR: Lost ground after beginning awkwardly; laid outwards.

SMART PEOPLE: Slow to begin; lost ground after being bumped.

LUCKY MISSION: Bumped; inconvenienced.

MEDIA CAPTAIN: Began awkwardly.

BLUE DIAMOND: Jumped outwards.

RACE 8

PROBO CHANDROSO: Lame near-hind; withdrawn.

KIRKUS: Lost ground after beginning awkwardly.

BRINGITHOME: Began awkwardly.

KEEN DRAGON: Bumped; raced keenly; eased.

LUCKY SIX: Bumped.

SING ROULETTE: Bumped; made contact; proved difficult to settle; checked; rolled inwards.

REAL HERO: Raced wide.

DRAGON BOBO: Apprentice T See was reminded of his obligations to ride all his mounts out fully to the finish.

AL VALORE: Made contact; steadied when crowded.

Jockey C Brown reported that after being tightened near the 700m mark, his mount failed to respond to his riding and, after becoming concerned with the gelding's action, he eased Al Valore down from the 200m mark; raced poorly.

A veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.
