Rathausglockel still has improvement
Reigning champion jockey Manoel Nunes reckoned that RATHAUSGLOCKEL will improve further.
The Brazilian, who won last year's title with 108 winners, rode a gem of a race on the Laurie Laxon-trained three-year-old, who produced a scintillating run in the final 150m to win like a champion in the Open Benchmark 67 race over 1,000m on the Polytrack in Race 5.
Although he ended up on the inside where he didn't want to be as his mount was still mentally immature, he still got the job done in the most stylish manner.
"That was why I was not so keen to take him back to the rails in the straight, but as there was no room on the outside, I went back on the inside," he said.
"Luckily, he gave a very strong kick and was just too good for them.
"He's improving all the time, you know. He's a litle bit green, still has got a bit to learn but he has got a lot of ability... still has a lot of improvement in him."
Nunes also won on MR CONNERY (Race 2) and MR SPEILBERG (Race 8) for Laxon, who ended a fruitful day with THANKFULNESS, who gave apprentice Farick Tan his first winner in nine years.
