S John, Rehaizat take a tumble in two-horse spill
Yesterday's meeting was marred by a two-horse fall in the opening race.
The grey Bargain Bid, a reserve who secured a run following a couple of scratchings in the Class 5 Div 1 event over the 1,200m on the Polytrack, fell near the 900m mark.
Lucky Eighty Eight, who was following, cannoned into the fallen horse, throwing apprentice Tengku Rehaizat forward.
Rehaizat was stretchered to an ambulance but was conscious. He was said to have dislocated a finger and complained of back pain.
Jockey John Sundradas, the rider of Bargain Bid, complained of thigh pain.
Both riders were taken to hospital for observation.
The day's Stipendiary Stewards' Report said that an inquiry into why Lucky Eighty Eight and Bargain Bid fell near the 900m mark will be held at a date to be fixed.
It added that Rehaizat and John were examined by the course medical officer and declared unfit to ride.
