BEST TOTHELIGN has yet to finish further than fourth in six starts.
That proves how consistent he is.
Against a weak Class 4 Div 1 field over 1,200m in today's Polytrack meeting, the Shane Baertschiger-trained four-year-old should be hard to beat.
This is especially so with the engagement of up-and-coming apprentice MM Firdaus, whose 2kg claim to a handy 56.5kg will certainly help Best Tothelign's cause.
From Day 1, Best Tothelign has demonstrated his ability, winning his debut on March 2 in sub-1min 10sec for the 1,200m on turf. He clocked 1:09.79sec.
The bay New Zealand-bred gelding was spelled after his fourth outing and, when he resumed, he continued to show his fine form.
On resuming, he beat all but Confiero, who registered a smart 1:10.09 for 1,200m on turf.
That run shaped him into a winner last time out on Nov 2.
Although it was his first attempt on the Polytrack, he won over 1,200m in a good time of 1:12.21.
Those two runs would have benefited him further and he looks the one to beat in the final race.
