Stirling's the one
Nine-time champion trainer Laurie Laxon's STIRLING is a horse destined to go far.
As such, the four-year-old New Zealand-bred should demolish his Class 4 Div 2 field over 1,200m on the Polytrack in Race 10 today.
The handsome bay gelding showed his mettle first-up on Nov 21, when he led all the way to beat Lucius Vorenus by four and a half lengths over today's course and distance in an Initiation event.
Lucius Vorenus went on to finish sixth to Vitally Secret before scoring comprehensively by five and a quarter lengths last Thursday.
In his second start on Dec 12, Stirling became the punters' favourite on the strength of his tearaway debut victory but could only finish third behind Platoon after setting the pace.
He could be a victim of the second-run syndrome but that run could only make him stronger for this afternoon's assignment.
Looking at the card, he does not have much to beat.
