These Streets a horse to follow
While it was celebration time in the Stephen Gray camp, spare a thought for trainer Cliff Brown's These Streets.
After tailing off badly for most of the race, the Elusive City four-year-old made stacks of ground late to run fourth, just a touch under three lengths off the Gray-trained Twickenham.
The day's Stipendiary Stewards' Report stated that as the start was affected, These Streets, who was restless in the barrier, lunged forward, then stood flat-footed and lost considerable ground.
Shortly after passing the 200m mark, These Streets was disappointed for a run and had to be taken outwards across the heels of Captivate to obtain clear running.
These Streets will be required to pass one starting stall test before declared to race again.
From three earlier starts, the four-year-old won once over 1,400m and was third twice.
It should pay to follow him in his next assignment.
