Trainer Tan has reason to feel 'optimistic'

Topweight EQUALLY OPTIMISTIC geared up for a comeback win in Sunday's Class 4 race over 1,200m with a stylish workout at Batu Gantong yesterday.

Taken out by a track rider, the six-year-old Australian gelding by Show A Heart sprinted smartly over the final 600m to clock 38.1sec and finished full of running into the back straight.

Equally Optimistic, who arrived in May 2012 with six unplaced outings back home, has five wins, five seconds and two thirds in 37 outings to date. He last won beating the Kuala Lumpur-based Straleta by three parts of a length over 1,200m in Kuala Lumpur in June last year and clocked 1:10.4.

Last time out, Equally Optimistic ran third to runaway winner Intention in a Class 4 event over 1,300m in good going and was eight lengths behind the winner who clocked 1:16.3.

Trained in Penang by Dr Tan Swee Hock, Equally Optimistic looks ready for another victory on Sunday.
