What's new this F1 season
NO MORE DOUBLE POINTS
Introduced last season, the awarding of double points for the final race has now been scrapped.
VIRTUAL SAFETY CAR
After Jules Bianchi's horrific accident in Japan last year, a "virtual" safety car system has been introduced to allow race control to regulate speeds remotely without deploying the actual safety car.
The races in Australia, Malaysia, China, Japan and Russia will be brought forward by an hour as Bianchi's crash in Suzuka last October came under fading light conditions.
Sebastian Vettel will make his Ferrari race debut after moving from Red Bull. Spain's Fernando Alonso returns to his 2007 team McLaren.
Daniil Kvyat makes his debut for Red Bull after graduating from Toro Rosso, while Marcus Ericsson has joined Sauber from Caterham. - Reuters.
