Dress up and take in the QE II Cup

It's here again. An afternoon of "ladies' indulgence" at the racecourse.

The Singapore Turf Club will host the annual English-themed event in Sunday's Queen Elizabeth II Cup at the Singapore Racecourse.

The Queen Elizabeth II Cup or the QE II Cup, as it is popularly known, was inaugurated to mark the visit of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to the Singapore Racecourse at Bukit Timah in 1972.

In 2006, the Queen paid a second visit to the Singapore Racecourse, this time at Kranji, to witness the event which bears her name.

This year, racegoers can bask in the atmosphere of glamour and fashion in the Victorian-themed event at the Derby Room, with the booking of the QE II Cup Package at $78 (ladies) and $88 (gentlemen) per person.

The package consists of a generous buffet spread, free flow of soft drinks, juices, beer and wine. Package holders will also receive a QE II Cup cap as memento.

It will be a day filled with pomp and pageantry as ladies adorn beautiful hats, with 10 of them crowned in the "Best Hats on Tracks" contest and win attractive prizes.

There will also be a complimentary Henna service for package holders and a photo booth for all to capture their special moments with talents dressed in Victorian costumes. A beer-drinking contest will also add to the festive atmosphere.

Every group booking of 10 packages will be entitled to a bottle of Piper-Heidsieck champagne. Book now by calling the club's marketing and facilities department.
