RACE 1 (1,400M)

SPECTACULAR AWARD (14) gave a good sight on the speed to place twice over 1,400m and lost nothing in defeat when a close fifth last time out over 1,200m. A lightweight threat.

WINNING ADVANTAGE (3) hasn't been far off the mark, despite failing to place in three of his five starts in Class 4, including a seventh behind Telecom Prince last Saturday over the mile. Can deliver with a step down in grade.

MAGICAL BEAM (4) has gone close in five of six starts, including placings in his opening two over this Sha Tin trip and a recent closing fourth over 1,200m. Must be one of the chances.

NO TIES (6) was never competitive last Saturday over the mile but had been threatening to score in three of five prior starts over this course and distance at this level. Drawn to be closer in the run, he can make presence felt.

RACE 2 (1,200M)

JOLLY SPRING (1) has gone close over this course and distance three times from four starts this term, including a hard-charging second to Metallic Star last October. He came up flat in the last 100m in a recent fifth to Smart Forward. Looks attractive at this level.

SPARKLING SWORD (14) ran on nicely two runs back over the straight 1,000m following interference. He just missed by a neck behind Born To Win last month over this trip with late-market support. A lightweight claims.

MELLIFLUENT (3) enjoyed a nice time on the lead in a recent debut fourth behind Born To Win this trip. He'll come on for this run and will give them something to catch.

FAY DEEP (13) hasn't been far off the mark in his three course-and-distance starts this term, including a prominently-ridden second to Dynamic Voyage. He was a closing seventh last start behind Born To Win.

RACE 3 (1,400M)

MR GOURMET (1) woke up with a return to Class 4 earlier this month for a mile third behind Grand Champion. The 1,400m looks ideal and he can figure.

SUPREME FLIGHT (2) keeps going close without menacing in Class 3. He wasn't disgraced when getting overhauled late in recent fifth to Calling With Love over the 1,200m at the Valley in this grade. He likes this trip and a return to the winner's circle would not surprise.

GRACEFUL KINGDOM (7) has gone to the line reasonably well in his past two runs over the 1,200m following a gear change to a hood, including a recent fourth behind Star Of Bond. He has the pedigree to enjoy the 1,400m.

SUNNY PEARL (9) was again like last season, knocking on the door in three of his opening five runs, before changing tactics to lead from a wide gate in a recent upset win over Ascension this trip. One for the short list.

RACE 4 (1,800M)

HAPPY CENTENARY (4) has shown plenty of promise in his past three starts for a rallying half-length win over Hey Cheers over a mile. He then returned to the Valley last start, only to find the very promising Redwood Baby too good over the 1,800m. He's trialled yet again for good measure and must have claims.

TOWERING STORM's (2) only victory has come at this level. He has bounced back to form in his past two runs at both tracks, including a fast-finishing course-and-distance third behind Let Me Go. Must be respected.

ACTIVISM (6) delivered an overdue win when prevailing by a neck over Cartoon Fay Fay this trip last November. He has since closed off to fill the frame in two of his past three runs at both courses. He'll try to get the timing right.

WINNAM (8) has finally put his best foot forward for barnstorming place performances in his past two runs over the Sha Tin mile, including a recent one-length second behind Fantastic Kaka. He gets this trip and can make his presence felt.

RACE 5 (1,200M)

SMART FORWARD (4) was a luckless fourth second-up before his visiting rider Tommy Berry gave him a gem of a ride to hold Access Years. A leading chance.

ACCESS YEARS (1) has struck trouble when staying on second-best in his past two starts over this course and distance, including a recent effort when pocketed for a run by the eventual winner Smart Forward. He can turn the tables with a some weight difference.

TONYBOY (5) kept on a one-paced fourth to Winfull Patrol in his debut last month over this Sha Tin trip, before coming from well back and traffic problems in a recent third behind Precision King. Must be a chance.

MULTIEXPRESS (10) won for a second time over this course and distance in Class 4 three runs back. He has given a reasonable sight to fill the frame in his past two runs at this level, including a pace-stalking third behind Winfull Patrol. He'll give them something to catch.

RACE 6 (1,600M)

KHAYA (12) outdashed the useful Kissmet over this course and distance last November. He had a minor setback with blood problems last December but is working readily and has scope to handle a rise in grade.

ARCHIPPUS (10) let down nicely over the 1,400m to easily remain unbeaten in two starts. He strikes a richer test but does appear to have the talent to head higher.

EXECUTIVE MANDATE (6) missed the kick and was held up in a pleasing debut seventh to Sante Fe Sun last month with a big weight. He'll be fitter and the mile suits.

GREEN MANNER (5) finished in the thick of things in four straight course-and-distance runs, including a third two runs back behind Approve. Can make his presence felt.

RACE 7 (1,200M)

STERLING CITY (2) has been hard to fault in three Group runs over this course and distance against similar sort of opposition, including a win last October. He continued his form when staving off Destined For Glory in a 1,400m success last month. One to beat.

CERISE CHERRY (5) made a belated bid late over an unsuitable straight 1,000m in a recent third to Amber Sky. He'll go close.

CHARLES THE GREAT (3) earned a second Group win over this course and distance last November and hasn't had either luck or conditions to suit in his past three starts. Can't be written off.

Last-season's race runner-up FREDERICK ENGELS (4) found a couple of invaders too good in the HK Sprint two runs back before finishing fourth over the straight with blood in his trachea. If all is good on the inside, he can certainly get up for a placing.

RACE 8 (1,800M)

ABLE FRIEND (2) is a true star in the making following a third straight success when holding stablemate Designs On Rome in the recent Classic Mile. He has the right attitude to see out the 1,800m and remains the one to beat.

DESIGNS ON ROME (3) hasn't done much wrong in three mile efforts this season for a second-up win in the Chevalier Cup. He was full of run late in a recent second in the Classic Mile. He'll thrive over this distance and a victory would not surprise.

DR GOOD HABIT (9) is at a ratings' disadvantage but isn't the finished product after showing plenty of scope to win three of five up to a mile last term. He was only beaten a half-length when resuming a recent third to the smart Mr Gnocchi. He should get this trip.

French Group winner TABLEAUX (10) caught the eye with a fast-finishing mile fifth to Able Friend. Can make amends.

RACE 9 (1,600M)

REWARDING HERO (5) only found the exciting Able Friend too good two runs back over this course and distance, before clocking a fast 22.18sec in his final 400m to chalk up a third win last month from three other starts this term. Hard to hold out of the finish.

BEAUTY FLAME (4) was in need of his opening two starts in Hong Kong before making all for a victory last month over Kabayan. He's got the class to hold his own at this level and will take some catching over a suitable mile distance.

KABAYAN (11) returns to Class 2 but is ready to get on the winning train after dashing soundly in his past two for seconds over the 1,400m, including a recent effort behind Beauty Flame following a slow start. He will be looking forward to the mile here.

SEA DRAGON (3) has failed to build on an unbeaten five-run first campaign but still has finished in the thick of the placings in his past three of four starts, including a closing third to Flagship Shine over 1,400m. He may appreciate the step back in distance off a couple of one-paced runs over 1,800m.

RACE 10 (1,400M)

GREAT CHARM (2) got the jump on Kabayan for a win two runs back over this course and distance. He kept up a good gallop, despite a no-cover run in a recent fourth behind Mr Gnocchi with a riding change. His winning rider is back on board and he has definite claims.

GREAT SKY (4) made a successful transition to the turf when coming from last for a course-and-distance second behind Santa Fe Sun sporting blinkers. One of the chances.

BIG FOUR (6) ran on nicely to finish just out of the placings in three of his opening four starts, before taking off from near the back after a patient ride from a wide gate in a recent course-and-distance second to Mr Gnocchi. He'll make it interesting at the finish.

SEA WARRIOR (9) was held up until finding clear running at the 200m to come from near last in a recent fourth behind Precision King over 1,200m. He will be suited by the additional 200m. Merits attention.
