Balotelli update: Pool agree £16m fee
Liverpool have agreed a £16 million fee with AC Milan for Mario Balotelli.
After reports emerged that the two clubs had opened talks over the forward's transfer, a deal looks to have been struck.
A statement on Milan's official website said: "Mario Balotelli drove out of Milanello at 13.30 after saying good-bye to his team-mates and the club's press staff."
Despite a flurry of summer transfer activity, the Reds are on the look out for a striker after selling the talismanic Luis Suarez to Barcelona.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has turned to the mercurial Balotelli to fill the void left by the Uruguayan, who was Liverpool's top scorer last season.
PA Sport reported that any move for Balotelli was likely to be a permanent one, with Milan uninterested in sanctioning a loan.
It will be a second spell in the English Premier League for the 24-year-old Italian striker, who was signed by Manchester City under Roberto Mancini from Inter Milan in 2010.
An eccentric talent who has one EPL title and one FA Cup to his name, Balotelli's time with City was marked with colourful incidents on and off the field.
He was sold to the Rossoneri last year for £19 million ($39.4m), where he has scored 30 goals in 54 games.
