Chelsea players find light blue Lamps 'weird'
Gary Cahill and Andre Schurrle admitted that playing against Chelsea legend Frank Lampard in a Manchester City shirt was a weird experience.
Lampard, who surpassed Bobby Tambling in 2013 as Chelsea's all-time top scorer, ended a 13-year love affair with the Blues when he was released by the club at the end of last season.
After signing up for new MLS side New York City FC as a free agent, the 36-year-old was loaned to US side's parent club Man City to keep fit for the new season.
As fate would have it, Lampard opened his account with the English champions against his former club with a signature late burst into the box to snatch a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
Conflicting feelings
After the game, the ex-West Ham United man admitted to having conflicting feelings about his strike and his former colleagues felt likewise.
Speaking to Chelsea's official website, Cahill said: "It was weird of course because you think of Frank in a Chelsea shirt.
"It's been that way for many, many years. We've seen him score that kind of goal so many times over the years."
German attacker Schurrle also said: "It's strange to see him in another shirt.
"We wanted to win this match but he scored for Man City. Of course it's nice for him to get his first goal but we wanted the win and we were very close to that."
