'Desperate' Wenger demands Champions League qualification
Arsenal must progress to the Champions League group stage "no matter what it costs", says manager Arsene Wenger.
Barely two days after their dramatic 2-1 win over Crystal Palace, the Gunners are on the road as they travel to Istanbul to face Besiktas on Wednesday morning (Singapore time).
With a lucrative place in the group stages at stake, Wenger has stressed the importance of progressing to his troops.
Desperate
The Frenchman said: "We are desperate to do it because we want to play in the Champions League and we know how big these games are
"We are desperate to go through. No matter what it costs we want to go through.
"We always have a difficult draw, we had Fenerbahce last year, this time we have Besiktas, so it is difficult."
Besiktas set up their two-legged encounter with Arsenal with a 5-2 aggregate win over Dutch side Feyenoord in the previous qualifying round, thanks to a second-leg hat-trick from ex-Chelsea striker Demba Ba.
