Everton's Barkley out for two months
Everton have been dealt a major blow ahead of the new English Premier League season after Ross Barkley was ruled out for up to two months with a knee injury.
The England starlet took a blow in training ahead of the Toffees' season opener against newly-promoted Leicester City later on Saturday (Singapore time) and left their Finch Farm training ground in a protective brace.
Barkley will undergo a scan in the coming days to properly assess the damage.
Reports suggest that the 20-year-old, who enjoyed a breakthrough season under new manager Roberto Martinez last season culminating with earning a spot in England's World Cup squad, will be out for between six to eight weeks.
Should he need the full eight weeks to recover, Barkley will miss out on the Three Lions' Euro 2016 qualifying matches against San Marino and Estonia.
