Ex-Liverpool star (reluctantly) backs van Gaal to succeed at Man Utd
Former Liverpool favourite Dirk Kuyt has grudgingly admitted that he expects Holland boss Louis van Gaal to be a success when he links up with Manchester United.
Van Gaal will become the Red Devils' new manager after finishing his final assignment with the Oranje at the World Cup.
While Kuyt's allegiance with Liverpool means he doesn't want to see United succeed, the Fenerbahce forward is resigned to believing that the 63-year-old will bring the good times back to Old Trafford, especially with fellow Dutch striker Robin van Persie at the club.
Speaking to the British media, Kuyt said: "I think Robin van Persie is an amazing player. He has shown that at United. Unfortunately, he was injured too many times this season.
"But I’m sure, with Van Gaal and Robin together, great things are going to happen with Man United - unfortunately!
"Van Gaal is an open style of manager. He has a clear idea of what footballers need in training and also outside of training."
